Another quick update for you all, whilst I've been working today ( BOOOOOOOOO ) my dad has removed the remains of the axle and leaf springs, cleaned down the underneath of the rearend and we've just undersealed it and painted the rear drum back-plates.

so here's some BEFORE pics of the underneath:

    And some AFTER pics:

I'm going to 'Chip Guard' it all on thursday ready for a top coat of Dacrylate over the weekend.

Looking good Steve. What is the kit car in the background. Looks a bit like a Dutton Pheaton, but that would be antique by now, and probably wouldn't meet the current regs anyway.

I built a Tiger R6 a few years ago. Bit of a pig to build in places, but when like poo off a shiney shovel. I put a build diary on line. www.wakelin.org/tiger if you're interested.

I'll have a look at that cheers Mark, have you still got it?

The Black one is a Dutton Melos, I've have it about 10 years, cracking little car, originally had a 1100 X-flow in it, but we put a rally spec 1630 X-flow in and that too could shift ( only car I've driven that would wheel-spin in all gears ) but when my Capri came along it got neglected unfortunately and has sat there for a few years.

Hopefully a guy my dad works with is buying it soon, having it as a project for him and his son, it'll also give us more room to work on the Anglia if it goes.

The Orange one in the garage is a Dutton Phaeton that I found abandoned in a brick merchants yard!, I've had it a Long, long time, its a long term project, we've put a tuned Rover 3.5 V8 in that one, fully adjustable suspension, uprated brakes and chassis, should be a very nice summer blaster when finished.

My friend also owns what I believe is the Fastest Dutton Phaeton, runs a heavily tuned 6.0 Chevy V8 and has been clocked at 160 MPH!

Ah, so my eyes werent deceiving me. That should certainly be a blast with a Rover lump in it. My Tiger has a 2 L Zetec engine in it. Would only do just over a ton, but got there very quickly. I sold it about 6 years ago sadly.

Bit more of an update for you guys, we've just bolted the newly repainted leaf springs, axle and bump stops in place:

You will see in the first pic I've also put a nice coating of industrial waxoyl where the tank sits, extra bit of protection. Just waiting on the damper units getting a extra coat of paint and then they can go on along with the diff and half shafts.

Well got abit more done today, both front wheel arches have been finished off in Dacrylate, I've resprayed the radiator and all the steering linkages and engine mounting have been painted too.

I'll get pics of the engine mount and radiator on my next day off.

well I've not updated for a long time, but I have good reason as since my last update I have got married :D
Anyway today I have finished off refurbishing the petrol tank and have refitted it to the car:
The tank after a clean with a wire wheel:

    Fully painted and refitted:

Hopefully more updates to come next week as I plan on getting all the front suspension back on.
